On behalf of the Executive Board, we want to wish all a wonderful holiday season no matter your beliefs.

We are certainly grateful to know that all of us are looking to enhance our community, giving opportunities to live healthy and productive lives.

To begin 2018, The Town of Shawangunk Democrats will hold their first meeting of the year.

Date: Saturday, January 6, 2018
Time: 2:00-3:30 pm
Location: Walker Valley School House, 6 Marl Road

Refreshments will be served.

We have invited a guest speaker, Liana Hoodes, who has expertise in organic farming. Here is the topic:

Organic and Sustainable Agriculture — what do those terms mean, and how do we support ALL agriculture as a business and a way of life in the Town of Shawangunk?

We will hear from an agriculture policy expert and have an open conversation regarding local policies and steps we can take to encourage farmers and food businesses to locate and be successful in our town.

If you are interested in attending, please send an email with the subject ORGANIC to or call 895-8712 as a gust list is being compiled.

Shawangunk Democratic Committee

The Town of Shawangunk has followed the drumbeat of Republicans for far too many years. Now there is an active Democratic Committee. So, we are having a party to introduce ourselves and our candidates for local elections, and prospective candidates to oppose Republican Congressman Faso.

On October 15 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, we will hold a “Meet and Greet” in the Community Room at Town Hall in the hamlet of Wallkill.

Refreshments will be served. The admission is $10.00 (until October 10) or $15.00 at the door.

Checks should be made payable to the Town of Shawangunk Democrats and mailed to: Hal Chorny, c/o Town of Shawangunk Democrats, P.O. Box 135, Wallkill, New York,

For more information, contact Hal at 845 744-8660 or Ginger at 845 476-1923. Please join us or if you can’t, any and all donations to the committee will help us win elections!

Be part of the GOOD changes coming to Shawangunk!

Meet our candidates!

Hold the date, Sunday, October 15 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm to meet us and our candidates for the County Legislature, Tracy Bartels and Andrew Zink.

It is also an opportunity to meet the eight (8) candidates vying to run against our Congressman John Faso. He has been a disaster, supporting legislation against our interests and obscuring the facts with his torrent of words. You will be heartened by the exceptional qualities of these 8 people who want his job.

For more information, call Hal Chorny at 845 744 8660.

Social Media Specialist

Shawangunk Democratic Committee

The Town of Shawangunk Democrats welcomes Heidi Haddard to Saturday’s monthly Democratic meeting. Having run a successful business in Gardiner for nine years, (HiHo Home Market), she is a master of using social media to promote business.

Heidi presently works her social media magic for People’s Place in Kingston. Working closely with Christine Hein, (Executive Director and wife of Ulster County Supervisor, Mike Hein), Heidi, now Deputy Director, has infused a new sense of purpose for the organization. Through social media, she has created a large network of successful business people as well as private citizens to raise thousands of dollars to help their community.

Heidi from Gardiner has volunteered to address our Democratic Committee this Saturday (September 9th) at Town Hall in the hamlet of Wallkill at 4:30 pm. Those interested in attending will be admitted at 4:00 pm when our short monthly meeting will begin.

Please call 845 895- 8712 or email for more info.

Shawangunk is an area of over 36,500 acres with exceptional industry, business, natural beauty, recreational opportunities and historic sites.
